Spare Change for Real Change donations make a real difference to the Nightshelter

The Winchester scheme supporting local homelessness charities, Spare Change for Real Change, has generated a fantastic £3500 for the Nightshelter and Trinity Winchester over the last year.

Michele Price, Nightshelter Manager, attended a cheque presentation ceremony this week (Friday 23rd February) with local MP Steve Brine and others involved in the project, and received a donation for half the amount - £1750 - which will go towards our vital work supporting local people out of homelessness.

The diverted giving scheme, which was relaunched in 2016 by Winchester BID and Winchester City Council, aims to encourage the public to give small cash donations directly to two of Winchester's homelessness charities, rather than to street beggars.

Michele Price, Nightshelter Manager, said: "We're delighted both by the fantastic amount raised by the Spare Change initiative, and the generosity of Winchester residents and visitors. The funds will help ensure that we can get the right support to those who are genuinely homeless and in need, connecting them with vital local services."
