We have 15 beds at present. 12 beds are supported by ‘Supporting People’ and enable guests to link closely to our Floating Support outreach workers and seek more permanent move-on accommodation. Our 3 ‘Crash beds’ allow guests to stay for up to 14 days and gain as much support as possible during that time from our Floating Support workers and WCNS staff.

The WCNS provision now includes access to ‘floating support’ services. Guests can access this extra support on an appointment basis 3 mornings a week in the Shelter itself. It is an invaluable facility & is provided through Westgate Support & Care. Primarily, they offer advice & support on various aspects of homelessness, help with accessing benefits etc. & assistance to find alternative “move-on” accommodation. The service is financed through Hampshire Supporting People & welcomed by guests & staff. Use of this facility & WCNS involvement helps guests with ‘planned exits’ to more appropriate longer term accommodation.

Guests are all required to pay £2.00 per night on the door (or £10 per night if working).

We are an alcohol and drug free Shelter and we breathalyse on the door every night.  All prospective guests need to be made aware of this before committing to come to the Shelter.

Guests arrive at the earliest at 6.00pm each night and are required to leave the Shelter by 8.30am each morning. We are not a hostel so guests cannot return during the day time.  However, there is a local Day Centre, Trinity, only ten minutes walk from the Nightshelter, which is open Monday to Friday. Many of our guests spend the day and eat a mid-day meal at Trinity, and gain further health care and other support.

We are currently working on a Welcome Booklet for all guests, which will also be available for download here.
